On July 1st, 2006 at 3pm in Largo do Santo Antônio in the historic center of Salvador the streets will be filled with colors, music, giant puppets, children on stilts and a lot of environmental consciousness. Circo Água Viva III arrived to present a performance created by the youth of the community. As soon as the clowns come into the scenario, for the surprise of many, the language they are using between jokes is Permaculture. The show is in the plaza. The community garden that the participants created is behind the church. The interaction between Circus and Permaculture continues during the show which presents problems of the big city like pollution, violence, hunger, lack of education about trash and lack of access to clean water, and presents Permaculture as the solution.

May, 2006 - 1st Environmental Circuit of Praia do Forte
OPA participated of the 1st Environmental Circuit of Praia do Forte with hands-on workshops of Permaculture for children and adults in May, 2006. OPA also took the Project Ecosurfista to participate as part of the Surf Championship of the event in Praia do Forte. It was the first time that the Ecosurfista youth participated of a championship outside of their community.
We left with a first place trophy in the girls category and a second place for guys of 9 and 10 years old through Francisleine e Cleiton. Congratulations to the young Ecosurfistas that besides proving to be excellent athletes showed a collective consciousness and education towards the environment. They separated the recycled and organic trash generated during the event and showed a healthy positive manner of supporting and encouraging one another. The Ecosurfista Project is generating young leaders equipped with the necessary tools to improve themselves, their communities and the world at large.

March, 2006 - I ENVIRONMENTAL CIRCUIT OF UFBA
OPA participated of the 1st Environmental Circuit of the Federal University of Bahia in March 2006 with a presentation about the use of cooking oil as fuel for Diesel motors. February, 2006 - Carnaval Parade
The children from the community of Diogo located 80km from the city of Salvador had the opportunity of spending Carnaval caring for nature. The Ecosurfista Carnaval Parade “Viva a Natureza” went up the hilly streets of the community with kids on stilts singing songs of praise to Mother Nature, carrying signs about the preservation of the local river. This was part of an Art and Environmental Education Project of OPA, one more time bringing happiness and education to the community.
